About

Engen Books is an independant publishing company dedicated to offering the types of novels and stories that we find enjoyable and interesting, in a range of many genres and styles.

Engen publishes books and other works of fiction that often draw on the reader's own imagination, hopes, and fears to evoke an personal response to the story. Currently we are publishers of science fiction and horror works, but that changes as the tastes of our writers change.

Engen Books was started in 2007 by Matthew LeDrew.

Submissions

Engen Books is currently accepting submissions in all genres of publication; both in short story format and novel format.

For the submission of novels, please supply no more than the first three chapters (including prologue if applicable). A synopsis of the entire story is also required, as well as an author biography.

For the submission of short stories, the full written piece is required, as well as a synopsis and author biography.

Submissions written in first person are not generally considered for publication. Exceptions to this are made on an individual basis.

It is asked that all submissions be supplied in PDF format if at all possible, or failing that in Microsoft Word .doc format (not .docx format).

Submissions sent to employee e-mail addresses are automatically discarded, and will not be considered for publication

Our Partners

Since 2007, Engen Books has had the opportunity to work with many amazing people and companies across Canada.

In printing our books, we worked with Blitzprint of Calgary, Alberta for our first seven publications, and have since moved onto the worldwide distributor Lightning Source.

Since Engen's founding, we have worked closely with Matthew Barrett of Island IT for help with website construction and development.

All our equipment and technology comes from the wisdom and expertise of the dedicated people of Boom IT, located on Torbay Road, St. John's, Newfoundland.

All our business cards are printed at Staples.
